Was going through a roll of 1910 wheaties and this one really stood out from the others in look and feel. The edges on the rim are sharper and more squared off than the other coins, and the devices really stand out. I'm wondering if this could possibly be a proof coin that somehow ended up out in the wild. I tried to compare it to my still sealed up 1963 proof cent and the 1910 looked similar although more worn. Would you guys mind giving me a second, third, etc. opinion on whether or not this could be a proof?
Here's pics of the rim and somewhat of the reverse. I'm sorry I don't have pics of the entire front and back. I took them in a rush and they were too blurry to see the details. I'll take more this evening if needed.
Thanks!!!
Edit: I guess I should have also asked if there even was a proof penny for that year. Google seemed to think there was but...... anyway, I apologize for being a pain. I'm doing my best to try to learn.
To CCF , not a good way to hold coins between your fingers like that ,the oils from your hands and fingers can leave fingerprints or worse . We really need to see better photos of that coin to tell if it's impaired proof or a business strike .
Ok, I've replaced the pics in the original post with new pics. Thank you!!!
Oh, and thank you for the reminder about hand holding coins. I should have had my gloves on but was having problems taking the pics so I took them off.
The hubs and dies were only a year old in 1910 and produced many proof-like coins. You have a business strike which is given away by the weakness in the O in ONE. Proofs were very well struck and show no weakness.
