I believe it's a zinc (2.5g) large date but cant tell if that's doubleing or deterioration

Do you now the difference between the two of them? Where do you see doubling? Can you provide us with a closeup where you see doubling?

@ clover, at the moment that's the biggest I can get it with out it being distorted. But a little in liberty and the end of the date. But then looking at it more it almost looks like America on the rev also.... so that's why I asked....

The bottom of the 2 looks to be a bit thicker, but hard to tell with given pictures. Maybe zoom in little and give that dark coin a bit more lighting while trying to avoid any glare to wash out the image
