Hi I posted about this on a Facebook group but did not get a clear answer and was hoping someone could help me out. I wanted to know what this was. I purchased a 2021 Peace dollar from the mint. I know that they contain lint and nics in the plastic sometimes but after looking I noticed this was neither. I usually wouldn't mind but it was very obvious on the front and the nic on the number one and back I discovered after. It looks like a piece of the metal is gone. Does anyone know what this is and Does this decrease the value? Did I get messed up?
There have been a lot of issues of these coins coming from the mint. it could be a planchet flaw or a minor strike through debris. does it mess you up? no not in my opinion, it is still a nice looking coin. There are other folks that have sent in the coin for TPG grading and they came back as MS 70 with a strike through designation.
I mean I said something else but it must have edited it to messed up I said something to the fact of ripped.off but Thanks so much that's good to know makes me feel better &
