Anyone's guess at this juncture. People in a post-apocalyptic world may be bartering with chickens and distilled spirits.

With bitcoin and electronic currency becoming more and more mainstream the collecting of newly minted coin days may be numbered. Hold on to those relics of a bygone age of pocket change.

I well remember going out to the hand pump at the side of the house and pumping buckets of water for the sink, for the antique washing machine with a wringer, and for the big wash tub where we took our baths after heating the water on the stove. I'm a city guy born in Brooklyn in the 50's. Until I joined the military I always had electricity and running water. I served with a couple of boys from Eastern TN. I knew enough that whenever we were in the boonies these guys were in there element and could make just about everything from LERPS to snake taste like a five star meal. I taught them how to play poker and they fed me.

The question has two components:
1. Will coinage still be struck in 80 years time? I strongly suspect that, while "coins" might continue to exist in some ceremonial form, they will have ceased their primary monetary function by that date. Coins were already dying before COVID in many countries, perceived as being a slow and inefficient way of maying small payments; COVID has all but killed them off. Unless there is some major global socio-economic regression (that's a euphemism for "the planet enters a New Dark Age") that causes electronic money to no longer work or be trusted, I think coins are now obsolete technology.
2. Will a country named "the United States of America" still exist in 2100? Countries have a half-life of about 100 years; America has already existed considerably longer than the "average" country. The next 80 years it's probably still good, though I cannot speak for subsequent centuries.

Pretty sound prognostication Sap on #1. Since there has never been a constitutional democratic republic before the US and based on our heretofore success I'd wager we make it to 2100. There are so many unique qualities the US has that favor our continuing success. Many are outlined in the Accidental Superpower by Peter Zeihan. Excellent read on how our rivers and position on the globe played a significant role in how we achieved world dominance.
