What Is It? (Id: Van Brook Token) - Coin Community Forum

livingdinasaur Pillar of the Community United States 1571 Posts	Posted 02/05/2009 7:24 pm I found this in a bunch of foreign coins, and tokens, etc: [removed old photobucket tags] These were taken thru my QSZ, (or QZS) scope). It is a stereo-zoom , with a Photocam Plus, 8 MP, no opticals camera, and the flash from the camera atop of the scope,in the darker photos. The brigher ones are with the swival halogen lite on the scope. No diffuser, just the scope, coin, and camera.. My question is what is it? No date, no country of origin, no denomination. Just two initials,( "V", "B") in the crown-section of the "Coat of aArms"? The "coat of ?Arms" indicate to me that it could be of Spanish, or maybe French origin, but that is the extent of my knowledge, in that area. Any ideas? Thanks for your time, and interest. Sap Moderator Australia 16982 Posts	Posted 02/05/2009 7:42 pm This is third one of these we've seen in the past few months; the two earlier ones are discussed here and here. While we're not really sure and can't rule out a token of some kind, our best guess is it's from a board game or something similar. It may be significant that we now have two that are gold-brassy coloured, and one that appears to have been blackened. It certainly resembles some checkers pieces I used to have when I was young, only they were plastic. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff

I checked out your links, and swa the one set of pictures, which I am going to "lift", to use for the fruther task of identifying my sic, coin. my pictures show the same thing, but the other is so very clear, and nice looking. I'll check to find out what is being used there. It might be a Canon powershot A590 IS. If so I can ask somw questions to try to figure out how to uise mine! I have a PhotocamPlus, w 8 MB, or is it 8 MP? Any way it does not have optics like my canon, but it does work with my scops. I think I am going to resign from Coin Talk. I can't even find my way in, much less navigate around! IBGolden Pillar of the Community Canada 598 Posts	Posted 02/06/2009 5:27 pm I made off(Madoff?) with about a dozen of these things from a circus game where you roll a token down a moveable chute and a bumper bumps off other tokens, that fall out to a bottom basin... then take those tokens and roll them down the chute... to win prizes... that are worth less than the tokens you roll down the chute. I think I'll just return it with the rest of the "discards". There were about 20-30 couintries represented, Fiji, Brazil , Colombia, Jamaica, Russia, and a whole bunch of Asian countries. I collect Canadian, and US. I do pull the Mexican coins, to add to my old bunch of cash, that was left-over, after returning to the US. I had a grocery store, down there.
