I know this post is a bit old, but I was researching a coin I came across and I seem to have one very similar to the one in this post. It does look a bit like a fingerprint, but either way if it's on two different pennies, is it possible it's a printing / die error? (And please forgive me for any nativity via wording or picture uploads, I'm fairly new to this!)

Fingerprints on a coin are not an error, they are caused by people handling coins
with their hands and the oil etches into the coin. There would be an untold
number of coins with fingerprints out there.
Also coins are not printed, they are struck or minted.

Okay, thanks! I guess I was just saying mine 'also' looked like a finger print shape, as to relate it to the original post. I know finger prints wouldn't get on there through the printing process. I was more so wondering if it could be a printing error that 'looked' like a finger print since it was on multiple, and seems to be in the same exact area of the coin. But thanks so much for your reply. Always learning! :)

Yes, just improper handling of a coin. If this were to be a rare coin, the value would be dropped drastically.

And just a matter of semantics here - coins are not 'printed' that nomenclature is reserved for paper money. Coins are 'struck' or 'Minted'
