Hallo,
I have bought recentst fout roman coins in Petra. The salesman gold me that they are real. I know the most coins the sell in Petra are fake. I post two of the coins. Are they fake or not?

Hard to tell from photos. As you say, most (all?) coins sold to tourists in Petra are fakes. There is also the fact that selling, buying, and exporting antique coins is illegal in Jordan and carries with it a jail sentence. That of course reduces the chance that a seller takes the risk of dealing with genuine coins.

I've accompanied groups there four times as a tour escort and every time there have been guys with trays of fake coins trying to sell them to the tourists.

They appear to be genuine late Roman coins, very common, hardly worth hard time in a Jordanian prison.
