1859 Indian Head Penny Reverse Doubling

Here is a closeup of the lower wreath (L) With what looks like doubling. The one cent is also doubled. I think it's all MD. Report this Post to the Staff
mrwhatisit Pillar of the Community United States 2053 Posts	Posted 12/05/2022 9:24 pm That cent is in great shape! This doubling you see may very well be Longacre doubling, which is a form of Machine Doubling. I too have a few Indian cents with that issue. Report this Post to the Staff
kbbpll Pillar of the Community United States 2604 Posts	Posted 12/06/2022 02:03 am According to the prevailing theories, Longacre doubling is not a form of Machine Doubling, since it occurs on the dies, not during coin production. I can't tell what the OP is seeing from the images provided. Report this Post to the Staff
