I believe the prefix FTW was the first of Viola series thus this would be first million serial #, this note came up for auction a few weeks ago at quite a reasonable price. This note was probably under graded, but still cool

Yes, FTW is the first prefix of the Viola series.

Very nice note.

One Million # notes are very hard to come by. I've looked for them (& ladders) for years & I rarely see them. I truly suspect solid radars are more common.

They're highly under-rated by Charlton (& collectors alike) IMO. They're like the bookends of the #1 note but don't get half the respect. Your note books at nearly1/3 the price of a 0000001 note in the same condition. Crazy b/c they're rarely offered & perhaps that's the reason they book so low (for lack of data!). I know low # are tough too.

But many of us old-timers had a similar thread on how Charlton has been a bit weak re: 1954 & DF special numbers. It's probably due to lack of data & just not updating the figures b/c they don't seem to jive with the rare occasion a DF solid (or low #) comes up for auction.

I have some contacts with the BOC that with today"s tech the laser could pick out any special serial numbers and that 001 to 100 of a new series like the Viola notes were gifted to the Royal family for their collection. This note most likely was owned by some high VIP or diplomat and yes every prefix should have the same 9 possible units but solids have more value as proven with this auction. This is the first possible million note Viola series there was little action in the auction, kind of good for me. If 001 of a Viola note or especially the prefix FTW showed up at auction it would go for crazy prices, happy collecting !
