The 4th and 5th bill have misplaced numbers in the serial number so I decided to keep them to find out if that is something that adds value

to the world of banknotes!

Most collectors seek notes in the same condition as your $20 FWF6966996 - this is a 2 digit note but not really special as there is no recognizable pattern & would have little premium over Face Value (FV)

$5 HCU is low # (below 1000) but very circulated looks Fine (F) which is pretty low grade for this series. FV
FFA1158511 is a 3 digit radar (perhaps keeper)
FVM $20 -spender (no special pattern) The 7 is barely out of position
FYD $20 -the 5 digit is slightly off but not sure it would generate much enthusiasm so FV for both (IMO)

FWK0000071 $20- Low # note (keeper)

BSN $20 -spender (don't see a pattern)
BIM1871871 & FVB $20 both repeaters but condition is F-VF maybe so FV (up to you).

FWP3801083 $20 4 digit radar
FYH4001004 $20 2 digit radar
FWJ8077708 $20 3 digit radar

HBK $5 definitely FV a spender as condition & number insignificant

FMW4344434 $50 2 digit radar
GHF0507050 3 digit radar
GMC1570157 repeater
GHH4446555 3 of a kind (I think its called)

The low # & above 2 radar groups are the best of the bunch (bolded the 2 digit radars since they're toughest). Remember that there's no horseshoes or hand grenades in special serial numbers. It's either on or its off. "Kind of" or "Sort of" has popped up in social media (where everybody just wants to be friendly). Before SM nobody gave these a 2nd look - so not very collectible really.

AMA9999927 GHS GHL $50 -no pattern so FV spenders
FYW FVR & BSF $20 -no pattern so FV spenders

10,000,000 of each prefix are released so there's nothing rare about 99% of the cash we come across. That means that there are still a lot of worn special numbers out there! But collectors want to look at notes that are in pristine or uncirculated condition (these are the uncommon ones). I've thrown lots of circulated radars/repeaters (& other tough notes) back into the wild b/c their condition wasn't good enough. That's the hard part about collecting (drawing a line).

The lower denominations ($5 & $10) don't tie up much money so they would be fine to keep (just don't expect much) but I would have trouble keeping (tying up) the $20 & $50 myself. The grouped radar notes & low $20 would be a good starter set. (I saved some notes like yours when I first started & used them at shows to buy nice older collectible notes). Hope this helps!

These are very good comments from WtoW regarding special numbers, if you look at the BOC videos on the poly note production it will show that the after final intaglio printing by CBN in Ottawa, the notes are single lasered, goes threw a rolodex counter and banded and finally shrink wrap into small BOC bricks, and into large big bricks. All poly notes has massive printing run especially the 5 dollar notes, I have seen over the years 6 or 7 serial # million poly notes for sale, seen 3, 20 dollar serial #001, solid # one example so of the billion or so poly notes printed where are the really special number notes gone ? The CBN laser is why you see breaks in serial # brick hunting the bad notes are just shot out to the discard bin for grinding in crazy speeds. Always collect what you like but in currency 99% wants UNC or close to UNC

No problem. It's nice to know you have remained objective about the notes (not too attached) & can see the difference b/t "spender" & "keeper"

Like I wrote earlier, I often had some circulated/graffitied Modified 1954 series which I kept from my paper route (when the 1960 notes were mostly used). I kept my best ones & spent the worst ones at shows & many a dealer would laugh when I used them to pay for better notes. This struck up some great conversations as they saw my passion for collecting (& upgrading). I learned a priceless amount of info from these guys who I considered as mentors 30 or more years ago when banknotes first appeared at coin shows.

@DBM (n Pokey's $100 thread) suggested browsing a Charlton catalogue.

You can find catalogues in the REFERENCE section of libraries (I did) & they're also loaded with VALUABLE info since special serials "aren't the only kid in town" (when it comes to "keepers" too).
