Why would this 1955 D Lincoln Wheat have a Silver Tip in Photos? No Silver seen with the naked eye, just in photos. Here are 2 photos, one photo is with the coin in a protective sleeve. I will add that this Coin was pulled from Original Bank Roll. Edited by Alice 01/30/2023 1:29 pm

Could be nail polish? There is a start of PIDT: This is a die event, but not a premium for this.

to the Community. It looks PINK in the photos not Silver, could be your light source or like coop mentioned a foreign substance coating?

Could be pink, I don't know if it's because of a foreign substance or not...was pulled out of its original bank roll. None of the other coins in that roll exhibit the same feature.

I will add that the pic on top was taken indoors and the second in AM morning sun light in a protective sleeve.

Looks purple to me, probably just some light toning.

Thank you all for your comments. One more thing, I looked at the coin using a ANCO 16x loop, the right wheat looks like the left to the eye. No film on the coin and I see no toning, I would suspect that toning would be easy to see with the eye.
Nevertheless, its puzzling to me on what's going on.

Just throwing this out there, maybe something is on the tip of the stalk like oil that made it tone that way. Looks interesting though. John1

Could these images have been taken with a phone?
That's what I use and occasionally it will pick up pink/purple from some light "in" the phone (a sensor maybe?). The light is not there if I look directly at the phone lens.

Shouldn't Toning be visible to the Eye, or does it start that way. Using the 16x loop, I seen no signs of any substances on the tip. Toning, can it be that site specific? I wish I could list another pic of how I see the Coin (looks like any other Unc. coin), but every time I take a pic it comes out the same way.

Can you use a different camera to take a photo and see what happens? John1

Could be reflecting back light in the near infrared spectrum - something that only a camera or other sensitive equipment can detect.
