Both. Because each one will give you different results. Bank rolls might have new finds and in MS condition. CWR will give you mixed conditions and dates of various known finds. John1

I used to exclusively hunt sealed bank boxes. However, recently I've found more dimes in customer wrapped cents.

I personally prefer bank rolls/boxes, though.... I did find a pretty nice 2000 P DDR-1 in a customer wrapped roll along time ago. My rationale.... of the customer wrapped rolls, my anecdotal evidence suggests, there are other CRH'ers in my area. 99% of the time, I seem to end up w/ the garbage finds they decided to roll back up. I get their corroded, road rash, common years.

I've had better luck with bank rolls, both mint and re-rolled.

I have no preference--over time, turns out to be a balance. I've been at this for decades--looking at any roll I can get my hands on.

My preference is to get a mix of both. The reason being is because I have found big collection dumps in both Machine Wrapped Rolls, and Customer Wrapped Rolls...
My actual preference varies depending on what I find. I liken it to mining for precious metals - the more bank branches you visit, the better your chances of hitting a vein... grab a bunch of rolls from a bunch of different banks, and if you find a group which is interesting or really good, you go back to that bank branch as soon as possible until you milk that vein dry. I've found big hoards of old cents, nickels, and even dimes, by doing this.
Incidentally, my best find ever, two years ago, NINE rolls of silver dimes, was a mixture of old style CWR and MWR from one collection dump. I found a single roll at a branch of a bank, a month later, at the same branch, I got the other eight rolls (I was hoping there was more and I kept trying different tellers until I got the "source")...

Back when I roll hunted on the regular, I would take whatever I could get.

I'll take any I can get. Must say that my CRH has slowed way down ever since I competed my Jefferson nickel set from local bank rolls.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.artToo many hobbies .... too much work .... not enough time.

My experience in half dollars, 4 boxes, all bank machine warped. 2 of them are all new 2022. The other 2 boxes with all different dates but only got 1 silver coin out of the 2 boxes. While I got some customers wrapped rolls from bank, total less than $150, got 6 silvers.

Same here - the ONLY thing I ever turn down are the rolls of the current years (or a recent previous year) coinage. On occasion, I'll also weigh the CWR as I am getting them at the bank to make sure I'm not shorted - nothing like getting 20 rolls of quarters with all of them containing 39 coins (yeah, this happened to me once )... but, unless it is way off, it's not a bad idea to take a little loss for the opportunity - I found a 1961-D silver dime last week in a roll of dimes which was one coin short.
