I don't see a DDR listed for 1977 in wexler or variety vista and I agree with John1

so if its not listed in the wexler, or in my case I have Stan Mcdonald (who does credit the wexler in his book) than chances are it is not what I'm questioning it to possibly be? Ive asked about this before, but I am srill trying to determine how much I should rely on these references when deciding to save or spend. Like, whens the last time a new error was found on, say, a 1980's penny? Are they 99% found and documents?,

@jkb those are all good questions that I have thought about as well. My guess would be that on these older coins millions have been searched and any varieties would have been made known. Hopefully one of the pros in here will weigh in. (Nice pics btw)

Quote: Like, whens the last time a new error was found on, say, a 1980's penny? Are they 99% found and documents?, Errors can be found on any denomination of any year and vare found daily. They are not usually documented because every one is different.

If I were to guess, I may have a roll of undocumented Lincoln cent varieties. Some think it's wrong that I don't take time to send them in but just not my thing....

Why not have them graded and documented to put an actual value to them? are most errors not specil enough to top dog collectors that they arent really worth much more than face value? I have so many questions and I have a hard time giving up any coins being as I dont know how this whole game works yet

I coin needs a minimum retail value after slabbing of $100-150 to justify all costs involved in slabbing them. John1

to the CCF I along with a lot of people are collectors. Yes it's fun to find a listed error or variety, but not the end all. I've been collecting since the late 60s. My interest is Lincolns. I have rolls of RPMs and DD that aren't listed. If they are listed fine, if not someday they will be. If you are in it for the money, just remember most of your finds will not be worth much. It takes a very rare coin to be worth any serious money and they are few and far between. Collect what you want and have fun with it.
