Are you working on a type set?
No, not really. But I do like the artistic merits of the Standing Liberty Quarter (SLQ) series. At one point, I pondered putting together a peronally-designed type set of the SLQs.
The series has three design types, was struck at three mints and was struck in three different decades.
As luck would have it, you can represent these nine considerations with just three coins:
- Type I: Denver Mint, 1917-D
- Type II: Philadelphia Mint, 1920, 1921, 1924 or 1925
- Type III: San Francisco Mint, 1930-S
My first coin of this custom set is presented here. I bought it years ago from the SLQ man himself - JH Kline - and bought a copy of his book at the same time. (I'm glad I was able to purchase an example from Mr. Kline before he passed.)
Maybe it's time to add the other two coins!
