I initially found a coin I was interested in, themed after a video game franchise I like...then I stumbled upon coins made by the same manufacturer "Fanattik" for many other themes.

They're apparently "limited" and they come in either gold or silver variants, or just a standard bronze-esque color.

The upside is they come in packaging that can be easily retained and not torn/damaged when the coin is removed.

They also come preinstalled in coin capsules--but they're cheap ones that scratch easy or come with scuff marks out of the package. These capsules also have what appear to be a lip for easy removal of coin.

Lastly, most of the coins I obtained from them are loose and rattle inside their capsule. So I may end up carefully replacing them with air-tites later on.

I'm on mobile and can't upload pics atm, but will update thread with some later.

You could check sold listings on eBay to see what Fanattik are selling for. If these are mostly copper/bronze metal pieces, silver or gold plated etc. they likely won't appreciate a lot in value IMO. Just because something is marketed as limited edition does not mean people will want them or they'll be more valuable in the future. These are not coins, not legal tender, they are a collectable. I assume Fanattik products appeal to kids, teenagers, adults who like Sci-fi such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc.

Private companies and private mints contract with movie studios and the like to license products. Niue Mint for example has the rights to Star Wars characters. Tulavu Mint has the Marvel characters, Spider Man, etc. These are gold and silver, not copper/bronze. There's some YouTubers who collect, buy/sell themed gold/silver rounds.

Some enjoy collecting tokens, medals, etc. but I don't know much about it. If you like collecting stuff like Fanattik, sports cards, comic books, coins, whatever, enjoy the hobby. Just know what you are collecting, their current prices, some may increase in value, some won't.

Interesting collection. Do take a look at Niue Mint and Tulavu Mint...they have some really cool "coins" and as livingwater said, they are in 1 oz silver and some are in gold. I've collected a few of the Niue Mint Star Wars coins and they're really nice. The value on them just keeps going up and up. I think I've purchased mine from govmint.com.

Welcome to CCF - enjoy!
