Well its a great find indeed The type 2 is a clear s and the type 1 is a filled s. This kinda looks like the type 2 but hard to tell from the photo. Need a close up on the mm or a person who is really good at this and knows

**edit** and yes it is a proof!

I'm not expert of Proofs found in Circulation, but that is DEFINITELY an interesting find.

First, you found it!

Secondly, if your pictures are accurate, it is very, very interesting how it has become such a 'chocolate" brown. It's obviously spent some time in circulation.

Who knows, might be worth something to the right party....

C-C, there is some confusion on the 79 and 81 proof mintmarks. There is no filled MM on the 1981. Picture of 1979 filled MM.

Some time during the year they changed to the sans serif MM.

This is the type 2 for 1979.

In 1981 the type 1 MM is the same style used for the 1979 type 2.

Again, sometime during production, they changed to a serif style MM. This is the type 2 MM for 1981.

Hope this helps.

Thanks MorgansRmine. I think I have type 2 if I am looking at it right. Thanks for the pics. This is a big help.

This is just my opinion but with the close up shots it looks like a type-1. the reason I say that is the way the "serifs?" look. Great info MorgansRmine
