NGC - For Toner Tuesday, here's a cool Portugal 1898 100 Reis with icy blue toning. Heritage Auctions Coins is offering this coin, which was issued to mark 400 years since Portugal's discovery of India: https://coins.ha.com/itm/portugal/p...1594-24127.s

It's a beautiful coin, but these are pretty common. Not as nice as these but common none the less.

The pricing appears fair for the availability. This series, 200, 500 and 1000 were the first commemorative issue in Portugal and spread a mania for coin collecting. Collectors even wrote to the mint chief demanding clandestine strikes for more.

Common coin or not, it's still a gorgeous example.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Sorry, this one is photoshopped. Compare it to the slab pics.

Still a nice coin in the slab, even with the photoshopped pictures.
