Now that the teams are set for the 2024 World Series, I thought it may be fun to have a contest to see who can most closely predict the outcome. I must say that the two teams standing are probably the least desirable I could have wished for as the playoffs began, but the good thing with sports is that you can always find some way to root for one side over another. As it stands, the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers are scheduled to begin their best-of-seven series this Friday at 8:08 PM EDT. The ContestYour job is to submit a guess that includes the following predictions: The winning team. The number of games it takes for them to win. The total number of runs scored in the series by both teams combined. This one is not required, but could win you a bonus prize: Player named the series MVP. The Winner(s)The winner will be the person who chooses the winning team correctly. Ties will be decided, in order, by who was closest to the number of games required then by who guessed closest to the total runs scored in the series. If there is still a tie, the person who posted (or edited that post) first will be the winner. The first person (if any) to guess the player named World Series MVP will receive a bonus prize. This may or may not be the overall winner, so there may be two people receiving prizes! The Prize(s)I wanted to get this up as soon as possible to allow time for as many entries as possible, so the prizes have yet to be chosen. They will be something from my collection and may include errors, silver, classics, banknotes, etc. I think it will be worthwhile! I will update here when they have been chosen. EligibilityThis contest is open to all members with at least 50 posts. All guesses must be submitted before 8:08 PM EDT October 25, 2024 (Game 1 start time). Note: you may edit your post as long as it takes place before the start of Game 1. Let's go! I'll play, though I know next to nothing about sports Winning team: NYY, 5 games, 80 runs, And no idea on series MVP Quote: best-of-seven series Not quite sure what this actually means?

Thank you for hosting a contest, spruett001 ! New York Yankees 6 games 44 Runs MVP: Giancarlo Stanton @mrwhatisit: Best of 7 means the winner has to win 4 games. . .Series could end in 4, 5, 6 or 7 games. . .recently completed Divisional Series were best of 5, meaning the winners had to take three. The League Championship Series were best of 7, like the World Series. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the contest! Since the Astros didn't even make it past the wildcard round, the Yankees got their chance... . However, I'm going with Dodgers 6 games 49 runs Tommy Edman

Spruett001 thanks for the contest. I'm not a fan of either team but do like to see the 2 biggest stars of today's MLB go head to head . I will go with the LA Dodgers in 5 games ( no faith in Yankees bull pin).56 runs . MVP Freddie Freeman.
