2024 Proof Roosevelt Dime - Planchet Error?

Parnelli917 Valued Member United States 388 Posts	Posted 03/12/2025 2:12 pm The Dime in the proof set I received from the Mint looked like it had toning on the reverse, which seemed a little odd for a new proof set. When I looked at it closely, the reeding looked like copper. It was as though there wasn't enough cladding on the planchet. Look at the lower rim on the reverse image. Also, both photos were taken about the same time. Annealing process maybe? Is this common? Report this Post to the Staff

I'm interested to see what others think, because neither of these seems to out-of-the-ordinary to me. The lens is not air tight, so the coins are subject to the environment from the Mint, to the fulfillment center, to you. It does not take much to get a coin to start toning.
