I'm afraid to clean it, and I'm trying to not get excited cause I really don't want to cry when I find out this is a CAM.
Well here it is

The more I look at it, it looks like a CAM, I've compared it to other 1994s, and it definitely looks wider, but when I compare it to my 1999 WAM it looks on the close side.

I am not an expert by any means - but at first glance the M looks closer to the A than it does to the E. So, my guess is that it is a Close AM -but I am sure more knowledgeable folks will post here soon.

Sorry, looks like a CAM. The space between the M & E is much greater than the space between the A & M.

Disclaimer: CAM is the standard abbreviation for CAMEO, however, I use it to describe Close AM. It's easier to type and I'm lazy.

Here's a side by side of CAM and WAM. Once you get used to the font, it's easy to pick them apart. I used proofs for the sharpest examples. See how much narrower the CAM's font is? It looks like a WAM went on a diet!

Anyway, It is a normal cent for 1994. As noted, the space between the M and E of AMERICA is wide indicating a normal coin.

Thanks,
Bill

BadThad,

Why don't you try "CLAM" instead of "CAM" as I recommended earlier? Or are you afraid that it will misinterpreted as a Clamshell Error (Split Planchet)?

I lightened up the shot a little and look where the initials are. Looks like a Close AM to me.
