I got a couple of golden dollars and halves from the teller and then he asked me if I wanted some "silver" dollars. I said sure. He had to walk to the other end of the bank to get them. They were two rolls of Eisenhower dollars. They were worth it just for the professional Numis Products, Inc. polyethylene tubes they were in. One was labeled "1976-S type 1 proof" and the other was labeled "1976-S type 2 proof." They are all cupronickel and appear to be what the label says. I haven't looked at all of them yet. I want to get set up so I don't put any fingerprints or scratches on them first. The first few on top do not appear to have any significant flaws at all. What do you all think they might be "worth"? Of course "worth" can mean a whole lot of things depending on the context. How high of a grade should I look for before sending one off for grading? Deep cameo PR-69?

So you're saying you got 2 rolls of "PROOF" Ikes?

Wondering if those Ikes had been accumulated by a collector at one point, then later deposited. Still, a very nice find!

I took them out of the tubes and played with them today. A very light fingerprint on one and very tiny pieces of white, sticky crud on a couple. All removed completely with a gentle acetone rinse. Overall they look virtually flawless. A few are sort of cameo. They would probably grade really high.

What a great haul! Nice to have a good relationship with the tellers at your bank. Pays dividends.
