Hi everybody,

what is your opinion on the Transformers coins, are they worth buying or is PM overdoing it now? What is the sentiment here? Some say they have some potential and are quoting the RB Spider in cinunkction, some say it is crap....

I believe any coin that is trying to cash in on a current affairs fad is almost always going to decrease in value. Those that are true government issue coins that are of a historical significance such as WWII and other genres are the main ones that you will see people collecting now and far into the future

I think they look like very expensive bullion.

Don't get me wrong though. I have no problem with a coin that commemorates something significant. It's just that countries like Tuvalu and Liberia are willing to put everything except my grandmother on their coins.

NCLT - non-circulating legal tender
WOTAM - waste of time and money

I wouldn't bother with them OKE. Fads always fade away and when this one does, those overpriced coins will be worth next to nothing. Grace Outcast's advice is good advice.

I guess I remember the original transformers and was at the right age at the time to love them, where else could you get a airplane that changes into a robot, gun that transforms into a robot, a cassette player that transforms into a robot with cassette tape that transforms into a bird. I still love the original transformer toys and have a side collection of just about every one of them in storage. If it were me I would be getting these not as something that would be an investment vehicle but just to have it because its transformers (even though I have never seen these coins mentioned)

Way, way, way too high. Even for Perth Mint product it is high. Makes you wonder how much is licensing fees.

Looks really nice, but I think that it is a waste of money.

Post back on here when they put a good movie on a coin!

This does make you wonder why there aren't a ton of
'Harry Potter' or 'Lord Of The Rings' NCLT coins....

Movies like that have tons of merchandise associated with them,
NCLT bullion coins would be a perfect fit....

Until then, I'll wait patiently for the 'Blade Runner' NCLT coin
series. (to be issued ten years from now, of course!)
