The release date for the 2009 Mint Set has just been posted as October 1, 2009. The preliminary price for the set is $27.95, an increase of $5 from the prior year. This set contains a total of 36 uncirculated (satin finish) coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. A notable highlight will be the 2009-P and 2009-D Lincoln Cents for each of the four designs. These coins will be struck in a special composition of 95% copper. The Mint Set has typically been released much earlier in the year (last year's release was July 30, 2008). This year, the US Mint delayed the release to resolve "unique tarnish issues" for the 95% copper Lincoln Cents. http://mintnewsblog.blogspot.com/

Finnaly I can get my hands on a 2009d nickel. I plan on ordering on the first day and butchering my sets for sale on ebay. I have a feeling those nickel prices are gonna go wild on the first day.

I've got mine coming on subscription. Unhappy that they are so late this year...hopefully they will fix the problems with the cents.

I really wish the prez dollars weren't included. I really don't wanna pay that much just for the D nickel and D dime and the cents of course.

I was really getting worried about them, since several people have said there was no need for them this year due to the amount of coinage still in circulation and with the problems with copper blanks. I was needing every single coin in the set to bring my sets up to date. Can you say "crack case" lol. Thanks for the info!!

Does anyone think the LP3 roll sets will still be available at that time, I would like to combine shipping?

The days of cheap mint sets are over. There are just too many coins in the set now.

Arrrgh! Gotta get my hands on one of those. A couple wouldn't hurt I reckon.

I'm hoping to get a set just to cut up the thing. I'll be trading off the extras I have no interest in. I'm counting on a fellow member that said he will be getting 10 sets and I can get one from him. I hope that the cello problem is fixed. I heard these were delayed because the usual cello reacted with the cents and they had to make some changes in packaging. The regular cello from 2008 was causing cents to tone. Wish I could find that post about it. I also predict it will cause the circulated nickels of 2009 to drop in price significantly. ebay will have a lot of pairs up with satin finish but some collectors will be satisfied just getting any 2009 P or D.
