I've been looking for a decent business strike 3 cent silver for sometime now. Well I guess it's been since Prethen pointed out mine was a 19th century fake! I bought this one recently, it has a lot of character and the clashing is more dramatic than most you. Thought I'd share the seller's photos, mine are coming soon:
That's a scratch on the holder by the 1 in 1861 before you ask I plan on polishing it good over the weekend and get rid of all the scratches.
Quote: What are you using to remove the scratchees?
I have some small sponges and use headlight cleaner/scratch remover for plastic, believe the brand is Meguiar's. It does a great job for shallow scratches. It gets a light haze and you just buff it with a soft cloth. My buddy uses toothpaste on his.
Superb Obverse Die Clashing! I have an 1862/1 With Reverse Die Clashing with a tad of Die Clashing features on the Obverse! Great addition to your Type Set, plus Die Clashing adds some character to a coin.
