Recently picked this up and was hoping someone here might have some information on it other than what is written on it. (Google was no help)

I'm thinking that this was some sort of giveaway at the official opening ceremonies.

There were a number of Toronto city hall medals issued. This one was issued in 1965 and is bronze. There were three different versions of this medal and are of different diameter: 40mm, 50mm and 71mm. They were sold at the price of $2, $5 and $10 respectively. They have catalogue values of $3, $8 and $15 dollars (Ontario Municipal and Commemorative Medals by Jeff Fournier). The designer was Allen Fleming and the mintage is unknown.

Edited for typo.

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed information. And for the book title that I can look for.

It belongs to a friend of mine now. It is the large one, uncirculated, still in folder.

Hey -

I'm the author of Ontario Municipal and commemorative medals - I issued that catalogue in 1990 - I've been inactive for a number of years but am back to the hobby - maybe one day I'll update my catalogue if there seems to be a demand.
Good luck in your collecting - do you have any other Canadian pieces?

Well, hey Jeff. Nice to see you here

I reference your book a lot as Ontario medals tend to come up often as people ask "What do I have here?" Being in Nova Scotia, I also use the book you were in on with Randy, Terry and Greg.

Anyway, nice to have you around

I kind of misspoke in my first post. My friend owns the coin, and we are still negotiating on a lot of coins. This is one of a few tokens he has offered as well. I will likely own it soon.

I am just starting to look at tokens and medals. I picked up a few with a recent foreign coin lot I purchased. Plus I bought one off of ebay, a 1927 Canadian commemorative. I've no books yet on tokens, and was not sure where to start. I guess I've the best line to information right here, but I'll certainly keep an eye out for your book(s).

Thanks again for everything.

I guess I should correct my correction and call it a medal instead of a coin.
Is there a place I can pick up this book? I just googled it and could not find it. Do you know if it is still available anywhere?
