I've got to get realistic on my grading! I had high hopes for this coin; I first thought it was Unc. Now I've taken a closer look at the grading requirements along with the coin and expect it to be AU instead. What are your opinions of grade and value?

It is a very nice looking coin. I would say that it is a high AU. I just want to know is it an ebay purchase?

I'm seeing wear in a number of spots on the coin. In the hair, cheek, and chain around the Kings neck. On the reverse there is wear on the figure of Roma, and on the horses heads. Could just be the picture but the coin looks whizzed. I'd grade it at AU-53, value @$180, less if it has been whizzed. I really like the reverse design on this issue.

This coin did not come from ebay, rather it is a coin my father brought back after a tour of duty in Italy. I took it out of the flip to take pictures and would really be surprised if it was cleaned in any way. What parts of the picture make you suspect the coin was whizzed? I also see those points of wear and had decided they were caused by the old flip that I suspect contained pvc's. I wanted to document what the coin looked like before I soak it in acetone. In the next day or so I'll do that and take more pictures.
And I do appreciate any and all comments!

The overall high gloss polished look makes me think it was cleaned. It could just be from the litte when you took the pictures.

Hopefully its the lighting distorting viewing of the details, If not I'd agree with some type of polishing. And yes this is one of my more favorite coin designs
