Love to lustre and detail on the coin. I have been keeping an eye for the 1840 rupee for a while now. How much did you buy it for?

I'm a fan of the young Victoria and found the adjustments to her image on the 1840 "Indian head" rupee very interesting.

can I share my Victorian rupees? I know some of them are in poor shape but I still like them.

I just looked at the previous posts and thought: Whoah! I've never seen anything like that!

Please take a look at the denticles on yarm's rupee! Does anybody have any idea what it is and how it happened?

Ha! If you hadn't pointed that out, svslav, I'd surely have missed it. Those denticles are warped all across the bottom! Gotta be a die or strike problem, no?

Bumping it up. I still would like someone to address the edge of yarm's rupee. What's going on there? Is it an error or counterfeit gone wrong?

look at the spacing its not even on all sides. I have seen some similar so its not a fake if the weight is okay.

if you start calling that an error than you will find many in one gunny bag from the mint

the indian mints are not necessarily known for their quality control

the indian mints which minted these coins were and are the best in the world. These mints were not administered by the indian rulers, indeed they were managed by britishers, all the coins minted were checked for their weight and other features, there could be no flaw at all. Do you find any errors in british india silver coins, it is very hard to find an error from that age.
