Okay, so recently I came across an old looking coin, yet have no idea on how to identify what it is. I've figured out it's Russian and most likely 17th century but still no dice. Can anyone help me identify/appraise it?

Assuming that the reverse is indeed incuse, as it appears in the photo, I would doubt that this piece would be a coin. In fact, it looks a little like a button (you didn't state what the diameter of it is). I can't tell for sure from the photo, but do I see a bit of solder in the reverse center? Possibly a loop was soldered there?

It's not a coin. Not sure exactly what it is, but it's definitely not a coin.

The wear pattern around the edge made me think that it could be a button.

The initials (in Cyrillic) stand for Okhtinski Ammunition Factory in St. Petersburg. It was founded in 1715 by the order of Peter the Great and it was main producer of gunpowder and explosives for Russian Empire for two centuries. Apparently they used such brass jetons as passes for the workers onto the premises.

On Russian auctions, they say, it goes for about $15 - 30. It'd be less here in the US because of not as much interest/demand.
