Quote: But if it be a sin to covet honour, I am the most offending soul alive. The coins were here before us, and they'll be here when we're gone. Before this day, our knowledge died with us unless we exerted the labor to put it into print for posterity; even then it might have been lost, forgotten in some dusty archive. No longer. Within our reach is the ability to build something which lasts, a thing which will not fade from view because of the immediacy and availability of all which exists on the Internet. We can make it so that those who follow us can easily obtain, use and build upon the knowledge we have accumulated. The coins are beautiful. They deserve to, they need to, they will survive. So, now, can what we contribute today. What greater honour than for us to recognize and facilitate this?

Good morning all. How is everyone this morn/afternoon? I'm really getting excited about this. I have the direction I'm going to Study, everything I can learn about the dies themselves from the Engravers to the compounds they were made from, where the compounds came from etc... I feel like a kid at Christmas again, Thanks.

Please allow me to re-phrase "a kid at Chisstmas" after some thought I raelize this statement could be mis construed. I only meant the excitement of Christmas as a kid to the excitement I'm getting from ya'll.

We too say that from where we ever are...and how are your studies going? there is much to research...just take it one subject at a time so you can grasp the individual points that make up the whole...

I've had to pull off studying for about 5 days due to blown out sewer line, doing repairs myself. Anyway, I,m still on Mr. Morgan, as I'm new to this it is taking me a little while to find the right sites for info. Oh just had an idea, The Library of Congress. I read the letter from Mr. Linderman to the London Mint & the reply, the line the got me was "It has of course occurred to me that you may think Mr. Morgan too good for the place you have to offer, but I have a strong opinion that he ought not to be lost to you on that account, & that you will do well to secure his services.' I'm learning,& your right "take my time one subject at a time. I l that there learned in my research that there are two mints I did not know about, Charlotte & Dahlonega.

I purchased a 1887-o at a local pawn shop awhile back & noticed it had an x across the obverse of the coin, recently I saw another New Orleans with a x on the cheek on ebay, could this have been some kind of underground code or doe's anyone know or is my imagination running wild? Thanks, Lee.
