We've all probably run into that bank teller that hates roll searchers and tries to get us to find another bank. I finally had enough yesterday. I walked into my usual bank were I buy $100 in pennies every couple weeks and SHE was there and of course I end up at her counter. She always makes loud, rude comments so I felt it was time to feed it back. "You know, I come in here all the time to do my business and pick some coins for my father. he had a stroke a few years and can't work, lives on a fixed income and he puts coin sets together to sell on ebay because as much as he wants to get up and go to work to provide for my mother he just can't do it! I do this for him and people like you make me fell like an butt for helping my own father!" That of course invoked the reaction I was hoping for. She apologized the manager came over and asked if everything was okay and I said "everything will be great once your employees realize that they don't know what a person life is like when they walk out the door so they shouldn't assume anything and treat everyone with respect." I was assured never again will I be given a hard time or threatened with fees to buy coins. Although, I did feel bad for a moment. My father is not disabled, he is in excellent health and his idea of coin collecting is saving all the wheat pennies he finds in circulation to give to me. He will call at the most random times and say "I found a 1905 Lincoln Wheat penny for you." "Dad, put your glasses on." "Oh, a 1955."

And the difference between you and her is what? You lied about a disabled family member to get what you wanted.

Yes Wolverine...I think you made a very good point with her...sometimes a lie is necessary to get through to an obnoxious person.

Leaving the judging aside, that story cracked me up. Perhaps a little peace offering and a mention to the manager that all is now cool, and everybody lives happily ever after.

There is always a teller who don't want pick up the box of coins because of the weight or is so lazy to get up and go change the coin bags at the machine even if you the only customer at the bank and they have nothing to do ! I guess we all have to live with that because we can't change and any action ll only make them hate us more .

You lied , you should feel awfull about lying.
Maybe you don't know what her life as a teller is like ? You leave and 12-15 more roll searchers come in after you to get rolls every day , week after week and her day is handing out boxes of rolls.
When she would rather be handling bussiness then being currency exchange counter.
If they dont want your bussiness go somewhere that does no need to tell lies.
What if she looks up your last name finds your father in a record search online and calls him ? Then next time you go tells you I talked to your dad !

Ricardocody:
No no NO.. that is the problem with society today: tolerance.
what the lady at the bank or any one that is disrespectful, lazy or has an unprofessional attitude when serving customers at ANY establishment should be called out. WE DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. have some backbone and stand up! we do not have to live with "it" or anything like "it". people nowadays are to afraid to say something, step on peoples toes or offend anyone, which leads, quite frankly to your attitude, Ricardo.
i have had this happen to me many times. and you know what? customer service? what happened to it? just because a teller doesn't feel like it or complains, or gives you a look or any sort of rudeness, is unacceptable and should be pointed out. call me old fashioned. I believe in standing up for what is right, just and honorable. I do not condone lying or deceitfulness, as this is not the point of the story. however, people in establishments like these need to, for lack of a better word, shape up. as a customer you have the RIGHT and PRIVILEGE to say something.

When she would rather be handling business then being currency exchange counter. That is their job as a teller. It's part of the job description. And, so is customer satisfaction. If she/he doesn't want to do her/his job then she/he should quit and leave the position to someone who wants to do the job. There are plenty of capable people looking for work. There is no place for rude people when it come to dealing w/ the public. It is just plain bad for business.

SD no need to lie .
All he had to do was say " I APPRECIATE YOU PROVIDING ROLLS OF COINS FOR ME THAT'S WHY I DO MY BANKING HERE INSTEAD OF ANOTHER BANK "
then left it at that no need to lie
It's called kill them with kindness often the truth gets you further then a lie.
One lie spirals into another, next she could be asking about his " disabled " father cuasing him to tell more lies

chris, maybe her job entitles her to talk to the customers and make comments
the Op said she gets loud and makes comments
maybe she just says " time to get the coin rolls boy you sure get alot of pennies " One might take it as rude, the teller might take it as conversation with a customer

coppertop5150 I agree w/ you statement one lie leads to another. But, my reply above still stands. It is their job.

I'm sure one can distinguish friendly conversation w/ rudeness with just someone's tone alone.

of course he does. he was a teller and for some reason seems to always take the side of the banks. oh I figured it out. he does it because...perhpas he was very similar to one of those tellers we're talking about now?
...
anyway
wolfman, like the others here, my opinion is that the lie was reprehensible. that point aside, that was totally awesome. I have dealt with my fair share of those sorts of tellers and it really becomes irksome over time. passive agressive behavior is what it is.
