Last week I purchased some things from a seller on ebay. For some reason he included a bunch of stuff for nothing.... mostly foreign coins and a 1909 nickel, and this medallion / token or whatever it is. Does anyone recognize it and know anything about this? It's very shiny but it's hard to tell from the scan, 1.5 inches across. Washington's face and the double eagle are in gold. I'm not sure what it's made of but it's not silver.

Ken,
I think this is a commemorative medallion.

I've seen a lot of them, usually in junk trays - some with the face and eagles in brass colour, others not. I've assumed that the medallion is in polished aluminum or copper-nickel.

I've got a bunch of these- made of the US Presidents. It's worth about a buck if you can get that for it. I have one of all the "key" Presidents and of the Presidents who served during my lifetime. Well, all except Obama. These tokens were made before he was President.
