jmyers11 New Member United States 8 Posts	Posted 03/25/2011 03:38 am I purchased a 2011 Silver Proof Set a few months ago and I recall scanning each coin very closely, as they were my first proofs. The only blemish I noticed was a line along the face of the Jefferson nickel. However, each subsequent time I have pulled them out to look at them, I seem to see another spot or line that I hadn't seen before. I guess my question is how tight is the seal on these lenses? I'm still stuck in my mother's house for another month or so, and she smokes inside. I'm trying to figure out if smoke is somehow getting to these coins, or if I'm just seeing things I hadn't before. Darth Anarchus Pillar of the Community United States 1388 Posts	Posted 03/25/2011 09:04 am Smoking generally can cause a "haze" on proofs, or tone them quicker sometimes ... jbuck Moderator United States 188560 Posts	Posted 03/25/2011 11:00 am As stated, the proof set lenses are not sealed and smoking is not the best for coins of any kind, especially proofs. Do whatever you can to protect them while you are there. Ziplock bags are a good start.
