Tungsten, for instance has a density almost exactly the same as gold. Fake gold bars that are gold plated tungsten have been made, and have quite successfully evaded detection until discovery years later. The same applies for gold coins. Report this Post to the Staff

There are plenty of good books, nut it comes down to researching each design that you collect, the materials they are made of, and all the way down to how they were made. biggfredd Rest in Peace United States 9104 Posts	Posted 03/26/2011 10:48 pm To answer the question, unless a coin is worn almost to the point where you can only identify the type, it's unlikely to be 10% light. A vg/fine grade coin that's 10% light is almost certainly fake. Report this Post to the Staff
