I'm going to be watching this with great interest, as my initials are RHC; which that surely does resemble.

Alas, alganbagerap, but the initials on the token are merely "RH". It is indeed a Canadian token but beyond that, my old 1977 edition Charleton says nothing useful, except that they also came in 1 penny and farthing denominations.

Under tokens of Lower Canada, Charlton lists the 1812-1814 farthing, halfpenny and penny tokens of Richard Hurd with this comment.

"Thomas Halliday designed this series for use in England. The farthing and penny did not circulate in Canada but were imported by collectors after 1870. Of the halfpenny denomination only the plain edge, light weight specimens were imported by Richard Hurd, a Montreal merchant, for use in Canada."

My Charlton is a few years old but lists the plain edge halfpenny (weight 5.5 gms) as $18 Can in VG and $35 Can in F.

Charlton lists an 1814 Hurd halfpenny (LC-51A1) on a thick flan, engrailed weighing 8.5 grams vs the plain edge version at only 5.5 grams.

Do either of you have a price estimate for this one with the "reeded" edge?
