Gold Coins For Sale - Need Help With Fair Pricing

Hopefully everyone can tell me if I'm close or not. I'll be posting these coins later for sale on this forum first before ebay. 1985 $250 Peso (Appears to be proof - nice cameo) = $350 (last one sold on ebay for $380) 1985 $500 Peso Proof (same deal as above) = $700 **Just doubling the price of the $250) 1987 Constitutional Commemorative $5 Proof - $425 1989 Constitutional Commemorative $5 Proof - $425 1881 $5 Half Eagle - $550 (Coin is at least AU, but I can't grade gold haha! I'll post pictures when the wife comes home with the camera) 1992 1/10th $5 = $170 1998 1/10th $5 = $170 1988 1/10th $5 proof = $170 (Not sure if these are equal or hold a premium) Any advice is really appreciated. I'd really like to know because pops needs the money and if I can't get them sold here - There's a big coin show coming up this weekend and I'd like to take them there and have a good idea of what I can get for them. In some ways it may be the best, but just like going to a coin store, you have to know what your doing and what things are worth. The advantage of a coin show is the large amount of dealers for comparison bargaining. Another point is no postage, handling, insurances, lost in the mail, etc. The bad point of a coin show is if small, many of the dealers know each other and work together for purchasing and selling. You did mention a large coin show, but what do you consider a large show? Hopefully you may get some estimates here too. Report this Post to the Staff

From what I've been looking at, the Modern coins are probably just going to go for melt and that would be a premium. So I guess the closer I could get to melt - the better off I'd be. Original government packaging (OGP) helps the seller get closer to retail values at the time of sale also. I'll note here what I would consider a fair price if I were selling these coins. 1985 $250 Peso is a 1/4 oz proof: $375 w/OGP. 1985 $500 Peso is a 1/2 oz proof: $750 w/OGP. 1987 Constitutional Commem $5 Proof: $380 w/OGP. 1989 Constitutional Commem $5 Proof: $380 w/OGP. 1881 $5 Half Eagle raw in AU: $450. 1992 1/10 oz $5 MS: $160 1998 1/10 oz $5 MS: $160 1988 1/10 oz $5 proof: $175 w/OGP.
