SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 11/18/2006 3:23 pm My original thread got a little clogged with pics, so I decided to start a new one out of respect for people's bandwidth. To recap, in the old thread I asked if the membership thought this coin would hold MS64: The overall opinion was favorable. I bought the coin. Given what it was, I'd have bought it anyways - remember I mentioned hiding the characteristics of the VAM? Well, here it is in hand. 1921-D VAM-1n Unicorn: It's called the Unicorn because of the shape of the die break coming off the D in UNITED. This is one of the most desirable of the 1921-D VAM's, and one of only 11 1921 VAM's that PCGS will attribute. With this coin, I now have 9 of that 11, and one of the two I'm missing appears to be unique. I believe this coin will hold MS64. On a related note, this coin saw the image counter pass 2100 on my camera, and close to 2000 of those are coins. It's only significant because, after 2000 tries, I'm still only getting close to decent images. Maybe it is partly the operator. Report this Post to the Staff

Rick Rick, when you brought up the subject of a separate forum for Morgans some months ago, I was generally opposed to it because we already have so many forums now, even though I'm a hardcore Morganphile. However, given the multiplicity of Morgans in a wide range of forums as I've observed on the RSS feed, my thinking has changed and now I agree with you (much as it pains me ). A separate Morgan forum would make it easier to keep track of all the Morgan topics. One topic in which Morgans might not be so easily separated is Coin Grading Practice - I can't make up my mind whether Morgan CGP should be lumped with a Morgan forum or still maintained apart in the Coin Grading Practice forum. Morgans are a big part of coin collecting, because there's a lot of them and many people collect them. You should expect a majority of the traffic in the Grading forum to be Morgans, but giving them their own home would serve to dilute the audience. I, for one, am a Morgan nut who is thoroughly enjoying TypeMaster's topics in Grading, and I feel his efforts would get a lot less attention if they were shuttled into what would become a much less-trafficked subforum. And, I can't help but think that breaking Morgans into their own forum would decrease traffic in the other. Report this Post to the Staff
