After the death of Firoz shah (1351-88.AD), the sultan of Delhi, chaos arose in Northern India. In Gujarat, Zafar Khan was the Governor for the Delhi sultan since 1391. His son Tatar Khan desired the throne at Delhi. He imprisoned his father and set out for that. But Zafar got him eliminated and became independent ruler at Gujarat with the title "Shams ud din Muzaffir Shah". Thus began the Muzaffiri line of Gujarat rulers. He was followed by twelve sultans until Akbar the Mughal conquered Gujarat and annexed it to Delhi in 1573.AD. Shams ud din Muzaffir Shah - 1407-1410.AD Tatar's son got his grand father murdered on the pretext of avenging his father's death with the title Nazir ud din Ahmad shah - 1410-1442.AD1.) 2.)
