FYI, through 9/17. Great time to stock up, especially if you need any Whitman albums. The one I went to didn't have Dansco.

I usually go to the local coin shop, but have been meaning to check Hobby Lobby out. I went there today to get a Whitman, and didn't even know about the sale! It was a nice surprise...

I've been getting my 2x2 holders there. Have a coupon for 40% off any single item but I don't think its valid on items already on sale.

I went to the one in Racine WI and was very dissapointed. They had a ton of the coin folders, and only stupid State Quarter whitmans. The only reason I went there was for coin albums, and all they had were the ones that are gray and say "official us mint" on the inside, and if I remember correctly, someone on here had that kind and it messed up their coins..

I have never seen Dansco albums in my Hobby Lobby. They have, however, seemed to increase their selection of Whitman albums over the (in my opinion, inferior) US Mint Albums.

I was in my local Hobby Lobby last night (Garland, Texas) and took a look again at their coin supplies. No Danscos of any type, and most of the coin folders were not the "classic blue" Whitmans but were instead published by H. E. Harris Company (although they read published by Whitman on the back ). There was one folder that I hadn't seen before, which purported to be a type folder for Lincoln Cents 1909-2009. Nothing too unusual except it had few slots for proofs - never seen a folder with proof slots before. I also noticed that their 2X2's seemed pretty darn pricey.

Now, I do love Hobby Lobby, however, their prices on supplies are pretty high. 2x2 holders, for example, are 3.99 for a pack of 40 or 50? (I'm not sure) my local coin dealer sells them to me for 5 cents each. Seems like they would be able to sell them at a cheaper rate...I'm just sayin

Whitman is owned by Harris and so is the ones called US Mint Albums. Due to age old popularity Harris decided to keep the name of Whitman Publishing for the organizations name.
If you go to the Whitman Publishing web site you would also find they make many books people never thought were really Whitman's. Such as the Cherry Pickers Guide, etc.
Also, if you reequest one, they will send you their catalog free.
The Hobby Lobby nearest to me had actually nothing in the way of coin collecting at all.
