Confusing "fernando VII ?" 8 Reales.

Athlon New Member Germany 10 Posts	Posted 06/08/2012 2:58 pm Hi, I have this "8 Reales ?" coin from Saudi-Arabia,it was part of a old Bedouin necklace. One problem is that year on the obverse-side is gone and the reverse-side has some untypical words on it, that I cant pinpoint. Thanks in advance! ?FERNANDO VII? I also think its some sort of silver trade coin for the Middle-East and Africa like the Maria Theresa thaler,there are endless variants of the Maria Theresa thaler in the ME. But I still wonder why the words on the reverse-side,left and right of the pillars say "SAGA" and "MIK?" Nice site on the Maria Theresa thaler. Still kind of interesting to know what provoked the silversmith or who ever made it to duplicate the original in such a fashion. The work of a Jewish silversmith from Yemen or some foreign Government duplicate? More typical for such coins/necklaces are Maria-Theresien-Talers from the 40s which were minted by the British and the Italians as a form of silver war support currency for Eritrea/Ethiopia.
