The queen's hair is almost non-existent and there are a lot of hard to photograph lines around her. I think the lines are die cracks since they appear to go under the letters in places. Judging from the leaves I think the coin was weakly struck as they appear worn but the coin has full lustre. Anyone know what could have caused this? Scissel Pillar of the Community Canada 693 Posts	Posted 02/18/2013 11:39 am Plated coins that are struck at the wrong speed or pressure can exhibit odd metal flow. The plating may stretch at a different rate than the substrate - creating the fine lines radially from the center of the coin. So I think your coin shows a similar effect to all the problematic coins with weird lines that were made in 2001. Report this Post to the Staff
