Hi Newbie here! So bear with me. I have been haunting this site for a while and have found the info fantastic. I found a Canon bellows which I picked up for $50 on ebay, and need a bit of advice on matching it to my Canon 5D. I understand I would need an FD to EOS adapter at the camera end. (hope that's right) I have a Spiratone 75mm Flatfield lens with a Pentax (PK) fitting. I am unsure what adapter(s) I would need to mate the FD bellows to the Spiratone lens, as I have had no luck finding the correct fitting. I am sure one's of you camera masters will find this easy cheese.  |

Defer to rmpsrpms when he reads this, but I think I have this right. Yes, FD to EOS at the camera end, should be easy. At the lens end, don't quote me but I think those Spiratones came in a T-mount (same diameter as standard M42 - M42x1 - but different thread pitch - M42x0.75 - so they're not interchangeable), which means you'll find that yours already has an adapter that you don't need (T-mount to PK is common too), screwed on. If I'm right, it'll unscrew and then you need T-mount to FD which is as easy as the other end. Oh, and welcome to Coin Community.  |

The pk mount did unscrew, so I'll hunt for a T Mount/FD adapter & I should be in business.
I cannot believe how well made the Canon bellows is compared to the shaky Spiratone that I'm currently using.

SD got it all right...only thing I want to add is that there are two types of FD-EOS adapters available. Get the type without glass.

Thanks rmpsrmps, I am currently catalouging my NZ pre-decimal series, so I will post some of my efforts in the next few days. My aim is to have a photo album with all the coins in it. Is this the correct adapter: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lens-Adapte...em3a70ab36a5The only thing I have thought is if I unscrew the PK adapter on the lens, then I will be left with two female threads  Will I need a thread ring to match the lens & new adapter? |

No, that's the wrong adapter - where you see "M42" used as a descriptive term, it refers to the M42x1.0 thread which enjoys such wide popularity that it's become a generic label. You're looking for something specifically described as "T-mount." The Spiratone should be male-threaded, so the adapter will be female-threaded for it. I don't know which to describe the FD as; I don't know enough about the mount to judge male/female from images of it. Thanks SuperDave you saved me some hassle.
I unscrewed the adapter from the lens (it was in two parts) & it is a male fitting, so I should get it right this time.
