After a tip from one on the members, I hunted down one of these on an ebay auction. I just won it today, so it will take a while before I have it in hand; but it should be pretty cool! .308 is probably my favorite rifle round, which made this a must-have for me. I usually don't handle silver coins/rounds, instead keeping them in Air-tites, but I don't believe I'll find a traditional case for this.

BB,

I've been trying to win a .45, which would nicely match my carry gun, but I keep striking out on ebay. Finding one for $30 or under might be harder than I first envisioned. The .308 was the only one available at auction when I made my search. I feel fortunate for getting it.

If your order direct they have them for 25 on the site but their shipping is kind of pricey. Could get 3 or 4 and sell a couple to try and recoup that. I've been meaning to try and find the 308 but keep forgetting for some reason. Both are great rounds in real life and two of my favorite. 40 is probably my favorite overall.

ebay seems to have really steep premiums on these, I'm sure a lot of gun enthusiasts bid on them that couldnt care less about coins.

Just a question from someone not in the know. I notice in the description that the bullet rests on an inert cartridge. Are silver bullets capable of withstanding the forces put upon them if they were actually fired from a gun?

A silver bullet tip probably, the whole thing being silver doubtful. Theres no cartridge in these though they just look like it. Its just a shaped block of solid silver to resemble bullets.

yeah that makes sense seeing as there is no line dividing "bullet" from "shell".

Sweet! I like these alot.. But then again firearms and hunting are bar none my #1 hobby .. I love the 7.62 (308) and the .45, and own both but neither are my favorite rounds by far but thats a story for a different forum.. lol. But anyways I bought a "clip" of the .45's and two of the 7.62's... Love them! They have a great luster glow to them, especially looking at them from a "down the barrel" view!

There still SUPER expensive from ebay though, even with the $10 shipping charge from the mint it's still far cheaper. On the bay the .45's are going for around $37-$38 with free shipping (if not more), while direct from the mint there $22.95 for a single .45 "bullet"... So even with the $10 shipping charge it's still only $32-$33 shipped... So ya, from the mint all the way! That's where ordered all mine from.. The only downside is the shipping time from NWTM is rediculiously long!! Like bad!

On a side note Coonan Arms does make actual live round silver tipped bullets for "werewolves" and such.. They were shown at the last Vegas Shot Show.. There an actual powdered cartridge with a pure 99% silver plated bullet, that cycle, fire and expand perfectly. And they come in a real "wooden stake box" for any vampires you encounter... Lol.. There only available in .357 mag so far.. But will cycle fine through a .357 Auto as well.

I really like these but really don't like the premium. I would like to get one at some point just don't want to spend so much on shipping.
