It's being auctioned off in pieces tomorrow, but I can't seem to find out what coins are in it.

I'm sure I'm over my head with this one, but it would be nice to see the coins. I emailed the auctioneer a couple of days ago but haven't heard anything.

I did a search for fido coin collecting and came back with a feeling that it is a acronym for Freaks, Irregulars, Defects, Oddities (coin collecting.

So in coin collecting that pretty much encompasses an extremely wide gamut of what it in a collection. Off hand such a collection could contain just about anything.

OK thanks, that sounds correct. Now if I could just get a peek at what's up for auction. It's a pretty big collection.....can't believe they'd want people to bid blind on it.

I attended the auction today. Each of the "FIDO" lots was available for inspection ahead of the start of the auction - there were quite a few coins in each lot. Most were minor errors and not really worth the time to image all of the individual coins. This was one of the times that "you had to be there."

They did not interest me, so I did not review the individual coins.
