Please Help Identify This Old Coin - Coin Community Forum

Johncoin New Member Canada 2 Posts	Posted 07/28/2014 4:48 pm I was metal detecting yesterday in British Columbia Canada and pulled this coin out from the ground....it was quite dirty so I read online to soak it in olive oil. I took these shots before I put it in the oil. It is smaller than a quarter and larger than a nickel and looks like it might be copper...I realize there is very little to go on in these images but thought I would ask if anyone had a guess as to what type of coin it is. I am new here so hopefully I have provided enough detail...I know very little about coins unfortunately. Thank you!! [[Move]] Report this Post to the Staff

I think it's a very corroded cupro-nickel Belgian franc of the type issued between 1950 and 1988.
