I have been on somewhat of a mission to find some DDO or DDR recently minted modern coins. With my beginners photo skills (learning), I knew I needed to find a good specimen if I were to share. This coin could be awesome if it were to be a DDR. Found some other cool stuff over the week that hopefully pans out with everyone. I think I will skip the minor error varieties until I get the photo thing down.

What are you seeing as doubled? The ring between 7k and 11k looks like worn die. Incuse letters are very tricky.

Sweet thanks for some cool pics Coop! Well I definitely agree John on the trickiness of the new modern day dies but I see doubling on right border of Shield which of course could be the angle of the shot. Especially from me lol! But there is also doubling along the left border of Ribbon. I will try to take a steady shot also of Unum which has notched doubling in my opinion as well as some other notched Letters. The doubling to me seems to get slowly more aggressive along lettering as you go clockwise across United States of America with a few pauses here and there. I'll do a side by side or maybe put up a single normal 2014 D for comparison. Helps me at least. Thanks for the look and pics :-)

I think I am doomed on the picks for now. Hope I don't get in trouble for throwing these pics out from the week and I don't want to waste anybody's time on another post as you guys squint and curse my pics LOL! But If I am right on this DDR it will prove just how bad my close up pics are. This is what I should have done in the first place. 1982's side by side...sorry for the side thought. I think I am going to send this and maybe a couple others to Coppercoins or Wexler maybe

Decided to give UNUM a try. Eh..could be better but maybe it helps. If not, it looks like I will be spending less time on coins and more time on photography, for hopefully as short of a time as possible haha!

These happen when the hub is slightly tilted and when it makes contact with the die, it snaps into the proper alignment. Thus it is usually confined to the center of the design. Thus the Lincoln bar cents on the Memorials, other times the EPU is affected.

Some of the doubled ear single squeeze dies happen this way. but they are listed as class 4 doubled dies.

But there is also another way this can happen. The die may have been started to be hub, and back down when something is discovered out of alignment. These are usually the stronger spreads that we enjoy finding. So they are considered as single squeeze, but give a doubled image of the devices on the die. Hope this helps.

Thanks Coop.

I am going to study upon this for a bit and may have more questions relating to it at a later date.
