It certainly looks like an imitation. Turn the top picture 90 degrees anti-clockwise and rotate the bottom picture by 180 degrees to make it easier to read.

The writing on this particular class of imitation is so badly degenerated that "right way up" begins to become meaningless.

As for age, I doubt the gilding would have survived burial for 200 years and still been visible. This style of replica was used in the early 20th century but probably not earlier; I doubt it is much more than 50 years old. The second coin in this thread is very similar in design; that one came from a collection inherited "from a grandparent".
