Yup. That's why I won't straight out call it a fake -- it is really close, but needs TPG authentication. For a lower value coin such as OP's, ANACS would be inexpensive.

also it is non-magnetic and has been in my co-workers hands for 40 years.

I did have a guy I know at Golden Eagle
https://www.goldeneaglecoin.com/

he took a look at it, he couldn't say for 100% either way.

Title has been changed and I moved the thread out of the grading section. "Report Post" is probably the best method to get the attention of a moderator. Simply making a post might not be seem immediately.

Unfortunately, the mintmark does not match with what would be expected from a genuine 1932-D. It could be due to environmental damage or PMD; the only way to know 100% is to have it certified.

I wanted to follow up with everyone concerning this coin.
I took it to another LCS, that does most of it's work via the web. I won't list the urL only because I think they are more expensive even the golden eagle.
They looked at it and offered $75.00, their coin guy seemed to think it was legit, so I called the owner and told him the offer price, he accepted it.
When I called him the offer was $70.00, I told the owner and he accepted, when I got off the phone, I countered $75.00. the lcs bought it, and I pocket 5.00 for my time.
(yes, I did tell the owner about the price difference, and he doesn't mind that I made 5.00 off it. He is a co-worker and a confidant of mine as well (ie: friend))

I do think it was real, and perhaps I should have just paid the 70.00 and kept for myself. I am sure I passed up an incredible deal for a key date. But, you live and learn. and I am sure I can find another in the future. I am not kicking myself in the behind for it. For me to be sure, I would have had to send it in.
