From Haileybury, Ontario, Canada. Have been collecting for about 25 years and in my retirement am able to spend a lot more time with my Canadian Edward 5 cents and US Peace dollars.
Haileybury, Ontario is the original home of the author of the Hardy Boys series and John Mckay-Clements, the owner of the famous Canada 1911 silver dollar which he sold at the ONA auction in 1976.
Glad to be here and having done a lot of reading so far am very pleased with the volume of information.
Just thought I would add some information about the coin that started it all for me:
In the early 1980s, we were operating a helicopter on forest fires in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, based temporarily at a remote fishing lodge. One evening after putting the aircraft to rest, we followed an old unused trail from the landing area up to the lodge and I spotted this object barely visible in the upturned mud from the fire fighters boots.
Though I have many more coins today, this is still my favourite and the one that began it all for me.
Hopefully, in time, I may also learn to size the photos correctly.
