@omegaraptor, it is strange how the Seated dollar survival is high compared to the smaller Seated coins. I've seen the same thing in early SF gold coins. For any given date the dollars and half eagles are generally scarcer than the quarter eagles. Regarding your 1844-O Half Dime, that's what I went back to my local shop for a year later...and a year too late...congratulations on laying your hands on one. I hesitated because the one I saw looked cleaned.

Try getting LWH dollars for before 1925 in MS grades and you will pay the big bucks. I got me a 1938-D LWH for just $100 in VF condition. Less than 500,000 minted and they do get more expensive but you can get one in MS65 for $1200 if you can find one. When I either complete or get fed up with Morgans I will go back and radically improve my LWH set. To see an old one in AU condition is something to behold. They must have been plucked out of circulation almost 100 years ago to have kept that condition. 20th Century silver coins with the 1916 begin date are where it is at for me. However, I have never met a coin I did not like. I would like to have high grade sets of LWH, Mercury dimes, LSQ's and Buffalo nickels. I could spend the rest of my days improving sets of these coins and maybe Peace dollars thrown in also.

One thing about 93-S Morgans? Did they have a low survival rate as compared to 1894 Morgans? The mintage is almost the same.

@terry the more I want a coin the harder it is to find. I looked for a LONG time to find a nice VF 1923-S walker. Other than the 1916's early walkers above VG are just not available. I passed on so many that had been polished or damaged. It's like finding a fully struck 1921 Peace dollar.

You can find hoards of Walkers in Good condition, but try and find a 1916-S in VF condition. If you find it you will sure pay for it. Millions of Walkers worn smooth as a pebble on the beach.
