To celebrate reaching 50 posts I will be hosting a modest coin giveaway contest! I spent a few days considering a unique contest that will not be based just on chance, not just something you could look up on the net (although you will probably need to look up some basic coin info), and not something that would allow incredibly knowledgeable coin folks to gain an unfair advantage.
In the end I came up with the following; I will be hosting a 'Coin bounce guess game' in which I will be bouncing three coins against a surface which most of you will have access to. To win you must guess the metal content of the coins bounced and the diameter of said coins. For example if I were to bounce a post 1982 penny and you guessed correctly, you would have to submit the following answer: 19.05mm with a composition of 97.5% Zinc and 2.5% Copper. It's that simple!
The rules are as follows:
You must have over 50 posts to participate (how else will you PM me the answers without violation of forum rules?)
You must have a valid US postal address
The first person to guess the three coins will win first place prize. Second will get the second place prize and third well you'll get third place prize.
If at the end of one week all three have not been already claimed the prizes will be given as follows:
Remaining prizes will go to the individual(s) with the most guesses correctly will get the prizes in order of submission (no ties!)
If for example only one person has one correct guess, they will receive all three prizes.
The coin guesses must be guessed in the correct order. Guessing the first as third or vise-versa will not count as correct!
If you guys notice any flaws with my rules or logic or whatever please let me know! I've yet to create the 'Coin Bounce' video so this is my trial flight post to test the community response.
I also want to make sure I'm not violating any rules -before- I go ahead with the contest so admins please chime in! Is it ok to post a link to a youtube video of me bouncing coins? If not please offer some alternative ideas because I think this is a great idea for a contest!
